Community & Civic Engagement

Service Learning

At the School for Advanced Studies Northwest Arkansas, academic excellence intertwines seamlessly with our innovative Service Learning Program. Rooted in our high-end, seminar-style curriculum, students not only delve into advanced subjects through engaging discussions and rigorous coursework, but also actively apply their knowledge in real-world contexts.

Community Seminar

Our monthly Community Seminars are based on selected works that are approachable and relevant to the question of what it means to be an American. These community-wide seminars provide families with the opportunity to experience seminar-style discussions alongside their students. The process of engagement takes precedence over coming to any predetermined conclusions, and it is expected that perspectives will change as students grow, develop, and are exposed to an ever-expanding set of influential works.

Parent Booster Organization

As experienced educators, we recognize the pivotal role that parental involvement plays in the success of our high-achieving and profoundly engaged campus.

Our Parent Booster Organization serves as a vital bridge between parents, educators, and the school community, working tirelessly to enrich the academic, extracurricular, and cultural aspects of each student’s educational journey. With a focus on high achievement just like us, the organization actively supports service-learning opportunities and community engagement that contributes to the overall success of students and the school. The pivotal roles for our Boosters include actively working with the school to engage families, participating in The New American Conversation, engaging in our Community Seminars, and otherwise supporting students and educators.

Resources & Support

Library Media Center

Our curriculum and instruction depend on a wide variety of works, including literature, film, music, and art in digital and print forms. Access to a wide variety of media resources is critical for the success of our academic program, based as it is on critical thinking, textual analysis, and deep intellectual discussion across the core disciplines. Engaging with these works with the guidance of a certified Library Media Specialist is fundamental to our instruction and student success.

Licensed School Counselor

The Licensed School Counselor at the School for Advanced Studies Northwest Arkansas plays a pivotal role in nurturing the development of our students. With a commitment to fostering a positive and supportive environment, the counselor serves as a trusted guide for academic, social, and emotional growth. Equipped with expertise in counseling techniques and best practices, our counselor provides personalized assistance to students, helping them navigate the challenges of adolescence while maximizing their academic potential. Their dedication extends beyond traditional counseling, contributing significantly to the academic success and overall well-being of our students in their pursuit of excellence and fulfillment.

Daily Office Hours

We know students have questions and challenges, and experience moments of academic difficulty.  Our teachers offer daily after school “office hours” for students to receive additional personalized assistance, to help them achieve at their highest levels in our advanced curriculum.
