Introducing Kate Cochran: English Teacher

Kate has been an educator in Northwest Arkansas since 2013.

After growing up in upstate New York, in a small town called Unadilla, her family moved to Arkansas in 2000, and Kate enrolled at the University of Arkansas after high school graduation.

While studying in Fayetteville, Kate met her husband, Thomas, who hails from Louisiana. Kate and Thomas recently celebrated their 15th anniversary – and Kate says they love living in Northwest Arkansas with their husky, Eydie.

After trying out a couple of different career paths, she found her passion and enrolled in the U of A’s Master’s in the Art of Teaching program. “Teaching, education, working with students in this part of the world – that is my calling,” she says. “Once I found myself working in a school, I knew that wouldn’t change; it hasn’t, and it won’t.”

Kate has worked in traditional public schools and charter schools, has been a teacher and administrator, including ten years of teaching English, including AP courses, and advising many extracurricular activities.

Kate loves serving students and their families and is  happy to be part of the founding faculty at the  School for Advanced Studies – Northwest Arkansas!
